John Dixon’s Air Hawk (and the Flying Doctor): Issue 1
$15.00
In 1988, under my Comicoz imprint, I released the first issue of “John Dixon’s Air Hawk Magazine”. After six issues (eventually the comic was released nationally and internationally) the comic series folded. But the idea to reproduce the compete daily adventures remained! Two volumes (a soft cover and a now out-of-print hardcover) were released earlier last decade.
Releasing this new comic series, the National Library of Australia has allowed me to keep the original ISSN numbering, although suggesting I name it “Volume 2, Issue 1”. This is a limited edition of only 1000 copies, with many issues – thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign – travelling overseas. This comic has been published with the full cooperation of John Dixon’s family. This issue, at forty pages, reproduces the first two daily adventures of this world-famous Australian newspaper strip from 1963. The second adventure was reproduced from the original artwork, and all future issues will also – where possible – be taken from the original artwork.
This is an opportunity to own an Australian comic classic, and to get in on the ground floor of this massive publishing undertaking. Copies of the first series (issues one and two) were limited to only 500 copies and are now serious Collector’s Items. Don’t miss this opportunity! Future issues are soon going to be released internationally, so this original print run will again be well-sought after! — Nat Karmichael, Editor/Publisher.
